Waiting for our first generation kuroiler chicks from India

Jolly Poultry is impatiently waiting for its first generation Kuroiler chicks from the breeding farm in India.
First generation? What's that? Kuroiler is a cross breed, the grand parents of a first generation kuroiler chicks are of 4 different breeds. There is a breeding farm in India does cross breeds to give us first generation.
Second generation means that both parents are first generation chicks.
The characteristics of Kuroilers get lost over four generations.
Jolly's experience over the last year has shown that second generation performs well in Kenya for meat and eggs. However breeding them further among themselves as well as breeding them with other local breeds will lead to inferior chicks.

The import of Kuroiler first generation is Jolly's commitment to quality and contributes to maintain the genetic material of Kuroiler pure!

Remain posted if you want to get your first generation kuroiler chicks from us!

Jolly is moving in order to serve you better!

For those of you who visited us, you may have noticed that space has been a major constraint to our production. In order to serve you better in future, we are moving to a new location by the end of this month. We still will be near Matasia, between Ngong and Kisserian, but also more accessible from Rongai.

All other contact will remain the same. Exact location will be shared as we will be serving you from our new location.
Unfortunately, because of this move, we will not be able to host a training this month.

We are looking forward to welcome you in our new farm in April, and offer you trainings on our new location.

Testing low cost technologies

Jolly Poultry is committed to make Kuroiler accessible to Kenyan smallholders. This means we are not only making sure that our chicks fit the needs of smallholders in terms of strength, vaccination and price but we are also testing new technologies in the strive to reduce cost.

Last week we have been testing papier mache, a technique with flour glue and old newspaper to build furniture for our chicken. We are not yet happy with the result, and we will continue testing different types of glue.
We will let you know as we will have a convincing result!

Do you have a convincing low cost technology? contact us ! we will be happy to feature it here!

Happy new year

Jolly Poultry wishes you a happy new year and hope you will continue interact and collaborate with us to bring high quality and improved chicken to Kenyan smallholders!

2014 has been the start up year for Jolly Poultry and its team, a year of piloting, of learning and mainly a year of interactions with many of you, that has brought us to where we are today! Thanks for all your support at the Jolly farm,  during the fairs we visited, during the trainings and for the more than 8000 likes on Facebook!

The up-coming year we hope to grow into a stable company that is recognized for its high quality product, namely first generation chicks of the pure Kuroiler breed, but also for its honest advice to farmers at the fairs or during training. Finally, we hope to make some further steps in integrating the kuroiler value chain further, and offer more adapted chicken related products that meet the special needs of smallholders in Kenya.

We hope that 2015 will be prosperous for all our clients and that together we will be able to reach out to more smallholders than ever!
